Happy 210th Birthday, 'Mammy' Pleasant'
A traitorous Black baggage handler exposed patriot John Brown's plot by wiring a telegram to federal authorities. When Brown was interrogated about the meaning of the "W.E.P./M.E.P." initials he carried, he refused to snitch. And because the European–American wouldn't snitch, authorities never suspected Mary Ellen Pleasant (M.E.P.) of having been the wealthy collaborator who financed the arming of Brown's historic anti–slavery revolution.

A New Theater Season is About to Start from NYC to Nairobi
The fall theater season is around the corner. When the curtains open, "Butterfly: Denise Williams a Life in Song," plays for one night at Chicago's Black Ensemble Theater on August 23. On September 8, Washington, DC's Woolly Mammoth opens "The Comeuppance." Other plays open in Houston, Baltimore, and Alexandria.
