internal insurrectionist

As an African-American “mutt” who works with Mandinka’s, Fula’s, and Jola’s in The Gambia, I was alarmed when I heard and read from other people who identify as African American question Vice President Kamala Harris’s Africaness.

Just as the 2021 Insurrectionist shared and acted upon deception and are now being called to justice for storming the US Capitol, I question whether the internal insurrectionist who spread such disinformation on Harris should be held accountable, too? While the internal insurrectionist’s damage may not be physical, there actions are undoubtedly a form of voter suppression because they lead to more confusion, questions, and doubts, then damper enthusiasm and support.
Unfounded anti-Harris and anti-Biden words stitch doubt in the minds of many, confuses them, and discourages them from using their voting power. And, this is what people like Tom Cole want.
On January 6, the 2021 insurrectionists reminded us that words have consequences as we saw a modern Confederate parade the flag of White supremacy through the halls of the capital. Unfounded anti-Harris and anti-Biden words stitch doubt in the minds of many, confuses them, and discourages them from using their voting power. And, this is what people like Tom Cole want.

Tom Cole (R-OK), who earned an F from the NAACP, is scouting for such breaks in the wall, but he has other tactics, too. He told Politico, “We will press [Democrats] hard on the floor over the next two years to set up repeated situations where their vulnerable members have to cast tough votes.

At Port Of Harlem will be disciplined, more strategic, keep our hands on the plough, and not aid Tom Cole. This is not to damper dissent, but to ask people to be more responsible with their words and actions and to cease when it’s time to take on the opposition. In the meantime, internal insurrectionist should be held accountable just as any other.

To be clear, as I wrote in "America is Not Only Me; Not Only You,"  “We don’t oppose all Republicans, but we do oppose many things about them including their exclusiveness, desire for conformity that supports White skin privilege, and disrespect for African people, at home and abroad.”

We applaud the Biden-Harris administration and its first actions and realize that future actions may not come in the order in which we wish. As team player exemplar Stacey Abrams clearly stated on the PBS NewsHour, “We are not going to get everything we want. And we know that every change that needs to be made in this nation can't happen overnight and may not happen in four years.”
