You can win a set of tickets to see The Great Privation (How to flip ten cents into a dollar) at Woolly Mammoth Theater in Washington, DC.  The show runs from September 11 to October 12.

After it runs in DC, the production will transfer to Boston, with performances from January 9 to January 31, 2026, at the Modern Theatre at Suffolk University.

Bridging centuries with sweetness, wit, and unexpected grace, this time-bending new work moves between 1832 Philadelphia—where a mother and daughter guard a loved one’s grave from medical grave robbers—and the present day, where a mother and daughter work at a summer camp built on that same land.

“The Great Privation is our bold response to America’s 250th anniversary, asking hard questions about who gets to tell our shared history and whose stories storytellers have left out. In a time when playing it safe feels tempting, we’re doubling down on risk,” says Kimberly Douglas, Managing Director, Woolly Mammoth Theatre.

The downtown DC theater is renowned for its innovative approach to connecting bold storytelling on its stages to the broader civic conversations taking place in the community. Following every performance of The Great Privation (How to flip ten cents into a dollar), their nationally acclaimed Connectivity department will invite audiences into a deeper understanding of the themes, artistic choices, and social issues explored in the production.
