Ric Irick, who sponsored Fatoumata J. Bah, one of our 2023 high school graduates, was the first to donate to this year’s fundraising goal of $3,600. His $275 donation will keep three more female students in school this year.

We are thrilled to share that, thanks to your generous support, we have reached $1,755 (49 percent) of our $3,600 goal for the year. This progress, made possible by the contributions of Shari Curtis ($75), Judy Huebener Crim ($205), and Michael Ricks ($1,200), who joined Ric Irick ($275), is a testament to the power of collective action.

In addition to Bah, our 2024 graduates were Ida Jeng and Isatou Jallow. Norma Bullock was Jallow’s graduating year and 11th-grade sponsor, while Unity Baptist of Jacksonville was Jeng’s graduation year sponsor.

In addition to sponsoring a female’s education, you can also support:

• A male child’s education
• The Women’s Group that makes soap to donate to nonprofits
• Renovations at the Nema Kunku Mosque Imam Dem
• Stipends for the librarians at the now fully-stock library in Neme Kunku and POHGEP’s overhead cost
