We asked for $300 to provide funding to pay our soon to be formerly incarcerated contributor T. Michael Colbert. You, our readers, contributed $535!

The number of magazine subscribers not only keep growing, but those who get the magazine delivered every other Thursday (by email) are opening the delivery at a record 46.8 percent. That compares to an industry average of only 25 percent.

Our Facebook Likes hit a soaring new high, too, with more than 5,850 Likes. Most of our likes come from the following five cities, in order of likes:  Washington, DC USA; Banjul, The Gambia; New York City, NY USA; Serekunda, The Gambia; and new to the top 5 list: Nairobi, Kenya.

Our Instagram following has a similar pattern with the top five cities where readers live are: Washington, DC USA; New York City, USA; Serekunda, The Gambia, and followed by Baltimore, MD, USA, and Houston, TX USA.

We greatly appreciate the support and the development of this pan-African forum. This past week subscriber Carolivia Herron interviewed publisher Wayne Young on Epic City Radio. Such interviews garner new subscribers, and new likes on Facebook and Instagram.

Gambia Programs

Port Of Harlem magazine readers are also the chief funders of the Port Of Gambian Education Partnership (POHGEP). The non-profit has several developing projects including the “From These Shores” exhibit for the Juffureh Slavey Museum in Juffureh, The Gambia. It’s in its last quarter of completion.

The Baobab Youth Development Association (BYDA) has re-opened and isexpanding the Phyliss Wheatly-BYDA library. The library has a new inside mural, the first commissioned by POHGEP and BYDA, a second one for the outside is in the works, and they started selling WIFI access from the BYDA-Wheatly library. Wheatly was Senegambian-American.

BYDA has also started a new soap program where they donate soap to a local charity. They also produce soap for sale.

AmazonSmile

The Port of Harlem Gambian Education Partnership (EIN: 83-0481127) only has six donors in the program. We received $62.99 as of November 2021 from the program or enough to purchase a half-month's supply of soap for the Methodist Special School in Banjul.

Amazon Smile is simply Amazon, but you get to choose a charity to receive 0.5% of every net Amazon purchase you make at no additional cost to you. If not us, we hope all Amazon users will support their favorite charity at no extra cost when they shop at smile.amazon.com.
