The Port of Harlem Gambian Education Partnership (POHGEP) has revamped its homepage so viewers can more quickly see it projects and accomplishments. Donors can also see how the nonprofit is using their donations and with whom.
The upgraded page shows that POH continues to make strides with the planned hanging and opening of the “From These Shores” exhibit at the Juffureh Slavery Museum in The Gambia. The 12 panels that make up the exhibit are being printed and one will soon hang Mansa Kunda, the Gambian restaurant in Takoma Park, MD USA.
The scholarship program will soon launch its fall fundraising drive. At least one of the students should have graduated this year, so will need to raise funds for 18 instead of 19 students.
Since our last fundraising in 2021, we started a new program to support the soap making business by the women’s division. We provide them the funds to make the soap and deliver it to a local, diverse charities including Hart House (a home for children with learning difficulties), Side by Side (Youth Services), Kaddy's Foundation for Disability, Daru Sunna School for Quranic Memorisation, The Methodist Special School and Fajikunda Major Health Center.
