The Black Atlanta Comic Expo, a new convention celebrating Black comic creators, manga, cosplay, anime, fantasy, and gaming fandoms, takes place October 31–November 1, 2026 (Halloween Weekend) in Norcross, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta.

Willie C Cordy Jr., whose work appears permanently in the Juffureh Slavery Museum exhibit, “From These Shores,” will take part in the maiden event as a featured guest. In the museum’s exhibit, Cordy has images of Sabastian Lemba and John C Robison. The museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will soon install permanently “The Trans-Atlantic Human Trade and The Gambia’s Overflowing Significance,” and Cordy’s image of Mansa Musa is included.

The adjunct professor of Foundation & Digital Media Arts at Clark Atlanta University is an award-winning illustrator, animator, and art and creative director of the short film “Rise Up & Fight.” The Singletary African Art Gallery & Museum in Norfolk holds one of his images in its private collection, and Cordy is building “The Cordy Museum of Afrofuturism” in Atlanta, Georgia.

Other featured guests include Alitha Martinez, a comic book artist known for her work on major superhero titles for Marvel and DC Comics, and Dawud Anyabwile (born David Sims), an Emmy Award-winning animation director, fine artist, and illustrator.
