Al Sharpton has joined Richard Pryor, Kweisi Mfume, Dick Gregory, Alice Walker and others says the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in calling for a boycott of Kentucky Fried Chicken because of its chicken farming practices that PETA calls inhuman. “If KFC wants to take our money and use it to pay for sloppy practices that hurt animals, I say we send them a message that this is not going to happen,” says Rev. Sharpton.

n a seven-minute, sometimes graphic, video, Sharpton and PETA explore their grievances with the company. One of the grievances is that the birds never get a chance to walk around the barn yard as many consumers picture. Instead, the video shows them cooped up in a large factory-like warehouse. The film also shows birds becoming crippled under their own weight after supposedly taking unhealthy growth-promoting drugs
