Photographer and natural hair advocate Mireille Liong-A-Kong was born in The Netherlands, Western Europe while her father was studying there. Once back in her parent’s birth-country, Suriname, she was hired as a teenager by a high-end hotel and asked to remove her braids - - an experience to which Blacks in other parts of the world can relate.
